Rachel On The Rooftops

Aug Stone returns to the music scene with a new single.

I thought I was done with music for the longest time. But I’m back, and I’m back strong.

If I wake up and immediately start playing my guitar, I’m in a good mood for the rest of the day. Doing this one morning back in January, I started trying to describe a dream I just had and out popped ‘Rachel On The Rooftops’. The dream turned out to be prophetic as in it I was moving on from an old musical project that went awry, exiting the studio through the window onto the roof where I saw my old friend Rachel. I was in a bit of a rush that day and almost didn’t pick up my guitar that morning, but now I’m so thankful I did. I find songs and creative ideas often come like that, in moments where there’s a danger of losing them.

It was great to shoot the video in New Haven as that’s where I spent my teenage years buying as many records and seeing as many shows as I could, where the world of music really opened up for me. So it’s nice the city is there in the video as a character. The dreamy horizon of the skyline, which is how I think about music, this vast ethereal world of wonder out there waiting for us to dive in.
